Mile Zero Brewing is a small brewery in Victoria, BC. It’s owned and operated by three friends (Michelle, Michael and Dirk). They offer more than a dozen craft beers on tap, plus a selection of food so you can snack while you drink. The atmosphere inside is simple and cozy; there’s some cool art on the walls, and even a few board games to play. Outside you’ll find a good amount of patio seating to enjoy the sun while getting buzzed.
I tried a few different beers including their Blonde, Pale Ale (both from the main lineup), and Pink Boots—a Hazy IPA from their rotating seasonal lineup. Service was fast and friendly, and the brews were all fresh. Pink Boots was my favourite since it had a more punchy flavour, but they were all good. My only regret is not trying more while I had the chance. They also offer takeaway if you want to fill up your growler and go.
For food, I tried a couple small dishes to compliment the beer, and that they did very well. The pretzel comes with a side of spicy mustard and the breadsticks were crunchy and satisfying. Both were easy choices, and exactly what you’d expect. Their menu does go beyond the basics, though. You’ll find pizza, mac and cheese, a sausage roll, and more. These will have to wait until next time.
My favourite part about Mile Zero (aside from their delicious brews) is the friendly vibe they have going on. You can chill, get some beer and food, and relax like you’re at a friend’s house. I plan to visit again, and highly recommend you do the same.
