On our road trip from Monument Valley to Arches National Park, we passed through Blanding, Utah, right around lunchtime. We decided to find a local restaurant for a quick meal. After searching, we found a burger restaurant called Patio Diner on Google Maps. It looked like the perfect stop to satisfy our hunger and was conveniently along our route.
As soon as we stepped inside, we were greeted by a charming retro vibe. The interior was filled with Old School American decor, making us feel like we had been transported back to the golden age of the U.S. The menu was simple yet classic, offering just a few burger options, but each one was timeless. The milkshakes were a special highlight, offering a nostalgic taste of the past.
We spent some time deciding what we wanted, below are the food we ordered:
- Classic Burger
This burger features a 1/3 pounder, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, ketchup, and mustard. The patty was juicy, and the fresh vegetables and condiments enhanced the overall flavor. This is a must-try for anyone struggling to decide what to order. - Big B Burger
An upgraded version of the Classic Burger with a 1/2 pounder, Big B sauce, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, and cheddar cheese. The flavors were richer and heartier, perfect for those looking for a more filling option. - Bleu & Bacon Burger
For something a little different, we tried this bacon and bleu burger. The strong taste of bleu blended beautifully with the crispy bacon, adding a unique twist to the classic burger. - Chicken & Guacamole Sandwich
If beef isn’t your thing, the Chicken & Guacamole Sandwich is a great alternative. Although the chicken was slightly dry, the guacamole really elevated the dish.
We also tried two types of fries: Regular Fries and Fresh Cut Fries. The Regular Fries resembled the thick-cut fries you’d find at KFC, while the Fresh Cut Fries, with their potato skin still on, were a bit more rustic. Both were delicious, so it comes down to personal preference. Finally, we couldn’t leave without trying their milkshakes. We ordered two flavors—Chocolate and Banana. Both were excellent, not too sweet and had a nice icy texture. The portions were quite large, so sharing might be a good idea if you’re not too hungry.
This burger restaurant turned out to be a delightful surprise on our road trip. Finding such a classic American-style restaurant in a small town was an unexpected treat. In today’s big cities, retro diners like this are becoming increasingly rare, so we felt incredibly lucky to have stumbled upon this nostalgic gem during our drive.✨
