In Ireland, besides the famous chips, Irish breakfast is another go-to meal. When I arrived in Dublin, I suggested to my friend that we try a classic Irish breakfast. Instead, she recommended a brunch spot she said was even better — Lemon Crêpe & Coffee Co. The cafe has two locations in Dublin city. We visited the one on Dawson Street. Despite the name “Lemon,” the interior surprised us with its bright orange theme.
We arrived just before 8:30 a.m., but the place was already quite full. The open kitchen lets you watch the staff making eggs and crêpes. The smell of breakfast filled the space — we were instantly hungry. Each table had sugar packets and condiments so you can adjust your drink or meal to your liking.
First came the drinks. My friend ordered a latte tea, I got a black coffee, and we also had a green tea. The drinks were standard — nothing too memorable, but they paired fine with breakfast.
- Big Breakfast Omelette: I expected a typical Irish breakfast layout: sunny-side-up eggs, bacon, sausage, baked beans. But here, all the ingredients were folded into one big omelette. It was more like a loaded scramble. Though less visually striking, it was still flavourful. The buttered toast on the side was crispy and balanced the dish well.
- Veg Power Omelette: I didn’t expect much from the veggie omelette since I’m not a big vegetable fan. But this one changed my mind. The mushrooms, tomatoes, and onions were cooked just right — no excess water, no strong veggie taste. The egg added richness, and the dish had a clean, layered flavour. It didn’t feel like a typical bland vegetarian option.
- Big Breakfast Crepes: My friend ordered one of their signature dishes — the Big Breakfast Crêpes. At first, I thought, “Crêpes? Nothing special.” But once it arrived, I was proven wrong. The crêpe had the right thickness and texture — soft and chewy. It was filled with sausage, cheese, eggs, and crispy bacon. Each bite was hot, savoury, and satisfying.
If you’re in Ireland and want something other than hotel toast or chain restaurant breakfasts, Lemon Crêpe & Coffee Co. is a solid choice. Whether you’re into eggs or savoury crêpes, the food here is well-prepared and worth a stop.
Tip: Arrive early — it gets busy later in the morning!
