We Came Back for Seconds!!
We found Osteria Da Fortunata while exploring the streets of Rome. Two things stood out—it was packed, and you could see them making pasta by hand through the window. We knew we had to try it. We flagged down a waiter who had us seated within a few minutes.
There are a variety of dishes on the menu, but pasta is their specialty. We ordered the Gnocchi Vaccinara (braised oxtail), Fettuccine Ragu, and Carbonara. Side note: Water is expensive here, get wine instead!
The food was excellent. Freshly made pasta, cooked perfectly and smothered in a rich, flavourful sauce. Every dish popped with texture and flavour. Tender oxtail, crispy bacon, and a tangy, addictive ragu. You’ll wipe your plate clean to get every last bit of sauce and bread!
Our only complaints were that the Gnocchi Vaccinara and Carbonara were too salty, and the Ragu tasted slightly different on our second visit. Also, the restaurant was a little cramped at times.
Osteria Da Fortunata has a cozy vibe, good service, and awesome food. We had a couple minor gripes, but nothing to stop us from coming back a second time. And round two was just as good! If you’re in Rome and want some killer pasta at a decent price, definitely check it out.
