Tucked away just a short walk from London’s iconic landmarks — the London Eye, Westminster Abbey, and Waterloo Station — lies a surprisingly cozy restaurant called The Green Room Restaurant. We stumbled upon it around dinnertime while sightseeing, and with no expectations, decided to give it a try. Spoiler alert: it was way better than expected!
Located beneath a bridge and easy to miss if you’re not paying attention, The Green Room lives up to its name — with plenty of greenery outside, giving it a laid-back, urban garden vibe. There’s a large grassy courtyard with lounge chairs and a vibrant outdoor bar area, perfect for groups just looking to hang out with a drink.
Even though it was already 7 PM, the summer sun was still shining bright (hello, British summertime and its endless daylight). We chose to sit inside, though it was a bit warm without air conditioning, but the high ceilings and minimalist decor still made the space feel airy and comfortable.
To beat the heat, I ordered a sparkling lemonade — light, sweet, citrusy, and super refreshing. It definitely helped reset my energy after a day of walking.
Then came the main dish: The Green Room Burger~~~ 🙌
You can choose from fries, sweet potato fries, or a salad on the side — obviously I went with fries, because what’s a burger without them, right?
The burger was stacked with crisp lettuce, raw onions, pickles, tomato, a thick juicy beef patty, and my personal extra — crispy bacon. The patty was smothered in melty cheddar cheese, making the whole thing look (and taste) absolutely mouthwatering. 😍
The beef patty was juicy and tender, not overcooked — the juices actually dripped out with every bite (in the best way). The bun was slightly toasted, soft inside, holding everything together perfectly. The crispy bacon added a salty crunch and that deep smoky flavour. But the real MVP? Those tangy pickles — they cut through the richness of the beef and cheese, bringing a perfect balance to the whole bite.
Even though it didn’t look massive, the burger was incredibly filling. With fries and a cold drink, I was completely satisfied by the end of the meal. 💪
What started as a random dinner choice turned into one of the most memorable meals of the trip. From the relaxed outdoor vibe to the flavour-packed burger, The Green Room exceeded expectations. So if you’re near Waterloo or the London Eye, take a stroll down to this green little corner of the city. Whether you’re looking for a solid meal or just a spot to unwind with a drink, The Green Room delivers on both flavour and atmosphere. 🌿🍔
