Looking for some good fish and chips in Burnaby? Cockney Kings Fish & Chips is a must-try chain with 3 locations in Vancouver, including a popular spot in North Burnaby’s Kensington Plaza. Conveniently situated with lots of parking, this restaurant is perfect for those looking for an authentic British fish and chips experience without the hassle of downtown parking. We visited the Burnaby location early to avoid the dinner rush and were seated quickly.
After entering the restaurant, since we only wanted a light dinner, we ordered 2 dishes to share. First up was the appetizer, Louisiana Shrimp, also known as Popcorn Shrimp. The shrimp was lightly breaded, slightly spicy, and served with Cockney Kings’ unique ‘What-What’ sauce. The crispy exterior and tender shrimp inside preserved the sweet freshness of the shrimp, while the What-What sauce added a mild spice with a hint of sweetness, making this appetizer extra special. Soon after we finished the shrimp, our main course, the Cod Fish and Chips, arrived. We chose 2 pieces of cod, perfectly crisp on the outside with flavorful, fresh fish on the inside. Paired with tartar sauce or a sprinkle of pepper, it was delicious, and the small side salad provided the perfect balance to cut through the richness of the fried food.
If you’re in Vancouver or Burnaby and craving traditional fish and chips, Cockney Kings Fish & Chips offers the authentic taste of British seafood classics in a casual, accessible setting. With ample parking and convenient locations, it’s an ideal stop for a laid-back dining experience that’s affordable and satisfying.
