I heard from a friend about Just Pizza in Vancouver, a unique sourdough pizza. With such high Google ratings, I decided to give it a try. Located on Kingsway, parking was a bit tricky, but fortunately, we arrived during off-peak hours, so we didn’t have to wait long to order. Even during our visit, more customers kept arriving, and the place was quite busy.
Unsure of what to order, we took the staff’s recommendation and chose the Filipino Breakfast, one of the most popular options, along with The Hottie since we both enjoy spicy food.
Filipino Breakfast Pizza: This pizza features a garlic white sauce base, topped with mozzarella, longganisa, a sunny side up egg, jalapenos, pickled red onions, fried garlic and scallions. The fresh onion and soft egg created a balanced and not overly greasy flavor. However, the sausage was on the sweeter side, which I didn’t really enjoy.
The Hottie: This spicy pizza includes tomato sauce, mozzarella, pepperoni, jalapenos, pepperoncini, cracked pepper, chili oil, and rosemary honey for a touch of sweetness. The flavor alternates between spicy and sweet, with a slightly oily texture.
Just Pizza uses sourdough for its crust, adding a natural hint of acidity to the thin, soft base. The unique and creative toppings make it refreshing and fun to try. However, the flavors we chose were a bit too sweet and didn’t really suit our taste. If you’re looking to mix things up from typical pizza options, Just Pizza offers an exciting blend of classic and inventive flavors worth experiencing!
