Located in the southern part of Richmond, the small town of Steveston is a seaside fishing village where freshly caught seafood is often sold. Many restaurants in the area offer fish and chips, with prices ranging from $30 to $50 per person for a meal. However, for those on a budget, there are other options.
Garry Point Grill & Fish ‘N’ Chips is a grab-and-go style shop. Situated next to the Garry Point Park parking lot, and with limited outdoor seating, you can grab your meal and enjoy at the picnic tables facing a breathtaking ocean view. Free restroom facilities are available.
We ordered a serving of fish and chips for $9.95 and clam chowder for $3.95. The batter on the fried fish was thick, resulting in a crispy and non-greasy texture. The fish was decent, and the fries were crispy and crunchy. The clam chowder was rich, but didn’t have many clams. Overall, the food was good and inexpensive, and the views were priceless.
Being at the waterfront, the shop may not open every day due to strong sea breezes. It closes on rainy days, and it may be closed during the winter as well. However, there are plenty of other good restaurants nearby, so if you miss this one, simply move on to the next!
