Near the train station in Changhua, there’s a humble yet remarkable eatery Japanese curry restaurant – MuXia ShiTang(木下食堂). This restaurant serves authentic Japanese curry rice, the same as you have in Japan. The restaurant is run by a Japanese owner who is meticulous about the selection of ingredients and the cooking process.
MuXia ShiTang’s menu is simple (includes some Japanese), and the prices are very affordable. Some popular dishes might be unavailable on holidays or sell out quickly, but this only underscores their commitment to quality. I ordered the seared beef curry rice; the beef slices were slightly salty, but paired perfectly with the rice, and the curry had that authentic Japanese flavor – absolutely delicious. My friend chose the stuffed pork chop curry rice, and every bite was incredibly satisfying. The restaurant also offers free cold drinks, a thoughtful detail that adds to the charm of this little spot.
Despite the high demand, we were fortunate to find a seat without waiting too long. If you’re a curry lover or want to experience genuine Japanese flavors, MuXia ShiTang is a must-visit. Not only does it serve delicious curry rice, but it also offers a rich Japanese ambiance, allowing you to enjoy authentic Japanese cuisine without leaving the country.
