Whenever I’m about to leave Keelung and think about what souvenirs to bring home, my first choice is always LenJen Pastry Shop. With over a century of history, this shop is located in downtown Keelung, about a 20-minute walk from Train Station. The red sign with white characters is quite striking, and this small shop is filled with dozens of different pastries. In addition to traditional Chinese pastries, they also sell Western-style cakes, all at reasonable prices. This popularity is evident, as the shop is always bustling with locals and tourists alike.
LenJen’s taro balls are a must-buy souvenir for me every time I visit this shop! As soon as you open the box, the rich aroma of Dajia taro fills the air, making your mouth water. The taro balls have a smooth, melt-in-your-mouth texture, with small bits of taro adding to the natural flavor. The taste isn’t overly sweet, just lightly sweetened, making them irresistibly delicious, bite after bite.
While the taro balls are delicious, other pastries also have their unique charm. If you find yourself in Keelung and are unsure of what souvenir to bring back, take a stroll through LenJen Pastry Shop—you might just find your perfect treat!
