It had been years since my last visit to Taipei, but this time, I met up with my cousin, who took us to UMAMI LE BLE D’OR. I had always known that their beer was famous, but I had no idea they also ran a restaurant. After trying it out, I realized that not only is their beer excellent, but their food is just as incredible!
Once we were seated, we ordered a feast. It looked like a lot, but every dish was so delicious that we finished everything without even noticing.
- Honey Lager: Smooth and refreshing with a light honey aroma, perfect for those who prefer a less bitter beer.
- Amber Beer: Rich-bodied with distinct hoppy notes and a slightly bitter aftertaste, ideal for those who enjoy bold flavors.
- Strawberry Beer: Seasonal Craft Beer with a subtle strawberry fragrance, a refreshing and unique choice.
- Truffle Cream Cheese Bread: Crispy on the outside, buttery and slightly savory, making it absolutely addictive.
- Smoked Salmon Salad with White Wine Vinaigrette: Fresh and tangy, with the smoky salmon adding a unique depth of flavor.
- Skewered Grilled Pork Neck Coated in Cod Roe Sauce: The pork was chewy and tender, with a mild mentaiko (cod roe) flavor.
- Juicy Skewered Grilled Chicken Thigh with Sea Salt: Simply seasoned with salt to highlight the chicken’s natural juiciness and tenderness.
- Spicy Quick-fried Chicken Wings: Extra crispy wings with just the right amount of pepper seasoning—my favorite appetizer!
- Tomatoes and Seasonal Greens Pizza: The crust was incredibly crisp, and the cheese paired perfectly with the fresh vegetables and juicy tomatoes.
- Aromatic Rice Blended with Salmon Roe and Maw: Packed with umami, with the briny salmon roe enhancing the dish’s richness. A dash of lime juice balanced the flavors beautifully.
- Steamed Rice with Selected Clams and Prime Beef: Loaded with clams and an intensely flavorful rice mix. Not sure what ingredients they used, but it was incredibly aromatic and satisfying!
- Shrimp Paste Spaghetti with Miso Sauce: If you love shrimp, this dish is a must-try! The pasta was infused with rich shrimp essence, making every bite burst with seafood flavor. Very savory and sweet all at once.
- petit doux WAPA (with Seasonal Fruits): Compared to the standout above dishes, this dessert was decent, but it still made for a nice, sweet ending to the meal.
UMAMI LE BLE D’OR offers a cozy and inviting atmosphere, making it a great spot for gatherings with friends and family. The dishes are distinct and flavorful, while the beer selection is diverse, catering to both light and bold beer lovers. If you’re unsure what to order, their seasonal beers add an element of surprise! Plus, their service is fast, making the dining experience even more enjoyable. Great food, great drinks, and reasonable prices—highly recommended!
