Phở Pasteur – This Vietnamese pho dining in Vancouver BC, it is not far from where I live, but I had never been there before. Despite passing by a few times, I always gave up because I couldn’t find the entrance. This time, after checking Google Maps, I discovered that the restaurant is on the second floor, so I made my way in! The interior has a nostalgic feel, and it’s evident that it’s a family-run establishment. The view from the second-floor window is quite lovely. The prices are reasonable and straightforward, but they only accept cash and debit cards (no credit).
We ordered the House Special, Rare Beef, and Chicken Banh Mi. We opted for egg noodles for one of the bowls. The service was quite fast. The pho broth wasn’t overly salty; it had a well-balanced taste with a hint of sweetness. Both the rice noodles and egg noodles didn’t have a strong floury taste, and their texture was just right, not too firm or too soft. Adding some chili oil elevated the flavors, making the whole bowl deliciously aromatic and spicy. The Banh Mi had a crispy texture due to being toasted. The chicken inside had a slightly sweet taste, and when combined with generous amounts of vegetables, it wasn’t too heavy.
This restaurant is a great value option, and they don’t compromise on flavour. When you don’t feel like cooking dinner, come here for a comforting bowl of pho – you won’t be disappointed!
