Poutine is a distinctive Canadian dish, consisting of french fries topped with cheese curds and smothered in gravy. Optionally, you can add toppings like smoked meat, chili, ham, or sausage. This fast-food specialty is widely available throughout Canada, with variations in taste and quality.
La Belle Patate – located on Davie Street in downtown Vancouver, offers a comfortable seating area for customers. Although the price is a little bit high, the restaurant provides a variety of flavors to choose from. The fries are of a softer variety, generously topped with cheese curds and gravy. We ordered the Traditional and Smoked Meat Poutine. Both were a bit on the salty side, especially with the addition of smoked meat.
Compared to Fritz, another poutine place mentioned earlier, I prefer Fritz over La Belle Patate. This is because Fritz has crispier fries and the poutine is less salty overall. However, La Belle Patate offers a more comfortable dining environment. So, each has its own strengths.
